Darrell Keith English's Bio

"A coward is incapable of exhibiting love; it is the prerogative of the brave." - Mahatma Gandhi (1869 - 1948)

My main focus is my work on the History of World War II by collecting all the artifacts I can obtain. At this moment the collection stands at 10,000 artifacts which I use to teach, by going to schools and letting the kids see history upfront. My work with the Holocaust is the most rewarding as it brings with it, it's own kind of humanity to an inhuman time. By this, it brings out a part of each of us to stand upright when one sees injustice around us, by bringing out the courage to stand fast when it is noticed.
Schools; Museums; i.e. Williams Collage Art Museum, Hatikvah Holocaust Education Center. and PBS all have used my collection in one way or another. Art Galleries, such as The Brill Gallery have used my vast poster collection. Skokie, IL. Holocaust Museum documentary film by Emmy winner Rich Remsberg.
Once a year, the 8th grade in the tiny Town of Clarksburg, Mass, and their Teacher Mike Little and I, along with Rabbi Sternberg, do a Holocaust project, the likes of it have no equal. The small class of around 28 kids, who have had a whole marking period of Holocaust studies, put on the best History Fair. Art works, artifacts, and survivors, all come together to tell the story of mankinds self made nightmare.
It may seem like I'm some hard nose war hawk but I'm not, I have a deep love for history and all that has come to pass. Outside of that I'm just a fun loving guy who enjoys life and all that it holds!! Yankee Magazine, The Washington Times Insight Magazine, The NEW YORK Times, NPR all have interviewed me.
When someone asks me how did you get started in all of this, I tell them that there is one person in the whole world to place the full blame on. "MIKE WALLIS" yeah, the 60 Minutes guy. But back in 1963 he had a show called THE 20TH CENTURY, and that's what did it for me. I asked my Dad, and my uncles what they did in WWII and soon they began to give me things. So I was off and running!!
If one would like to see some of my artifacts, there are 2 sites to visit:

Some of you may be thinking he is a "FREEMASON". What is that all about? Well it's a long story and I have a long family history with it as well. Going back to 18th century Virginia. "NATIONAL TREASURE" and a few other movies, most of you have little working knowledge about us. The few things I will tell is it is the oldest men's organization in the world. Here in Massachusetts we have been around for 275 years. Most of you may have come in contact with the "SHIRNERS". Well, in order to be one, you must first be a MASTER MASON. Also the FREEMASON's were one of the many groups persecuted by the Nazis, some 80,000 of my Brother's were killed by them.
My other life has been filled with a wide range of things and people who I have been lucky to have know. In the 80's I got to work on stage with the likes of Richard Thomas aka "John Boy" and Kenneth Tiger. I was also in a movie, that one ending up on MST3000 about a 144 times. Well I never said I could act, I was just in all the right places at the right time.
There seem to be some new movement on my museum project I will fill you all in on the new and hopefully good news soon. I just can not belive that a 60++million dollar project around my life work just might have a home for everything that I have been collecting since I was a boy. One has to step back a few feet to look at the whole thing and say WOW!!!
The good new is I'am not a free man any more. On Oct 18, 2008, well lets say after 16 1/2 years of putting up with me, Mary and I tied the knot. She would have like to have done it around my neck a few times over the years.
One of the biggest displays that I have done was when Tom Brokaw's book came out. The publishers held a contest that bookstore's could enter that whoever had the best display, Mr. Brokaw would come and sign his book. World Eye Book Shop in Greenfield, Mass. won out, for my collection was put to good use. We beat out 15,000 book stores in the country. What a feather in my cap.
Just add a web address to the pile it is..
