Biography
Professor Franco Lumachi is based in Padua, Italy at the renowned University of Padua’s School of Medicine. From his offices in the School of Medicine’s Department of Surgical & Gastroenterological Sciences, he carries out the duties commensurate with his position as Associate Professor of Surgery, a role he has held for the past three years. In this position, Professor Lumachi leverages his prior teaching experiences in the University of Padua’s School of Plastic Surgery, School of Emergency Surgery, School of General Surgery, and School of Medicine to instruct residents and students in the areas of General Surgery, Endocrine Surgery, and Senology. Professor Lumachi has given numerous personal presentations on a variety of subjects involved with medicine in various settings around the world, including Society of Surgical Oncology, The Endocrine Society, The New York Academy of Sciences Meetings, The American Society for Bone and Mineral Research, International Bone and Mineral Society & Japanese Society of Bone and Mineral Research, European Society of Surgical Oncology, European Cancer Conference, and European Congress of Endocrinology. Over the last decade, Professor Lumachi has spoken in the United States at the Society of Surgical Oncology’s Cancer Symposium, and the American & European Association for Cancer Education Joint Meeting, among many others. Internationally, he has spoken at the Congress of the European Society of Surgical Oncology, the International Conference of Anticancer Research, and at the Collaborative Group on Hormonal Factors in Breast Cancer and Ovarian Cancer. Professor Lumachi’s scientific work has appeared in over 400 articles from numerous international journals, magazines, and books, including PubMed and the ISI Web of Knowledge. Professor Lumachi acquired his M.D. from the University of Padua, conducting postgraduate work there and at the University of Verona. Following the receipt of his Doctorate, he performed a Surgery Internship and Residency at the University of Padua, as well. Professor Lumachi has received international instruction at Harvard University, Université de Lille, McGill University, and IRCAD-IESE.
