Biography

“Intelligence without ambition is a bird without wings.” Salvador Dali

Most people know Carmen Amedori as a Parole Commissioner for the Maryland Parole Commission (MPC), a role that she has held for the past four years. Ms. Amedori was appointed to this prestigious position by Governor Robert L Ehrlich, Jr. after serving 6 years on the House Judiciary Committee in the Maryland General Assembly. If the appointment was not outstanding in and of itself, Carmen Amedori received another distinction: she was the first Republican appointed to the Maryland Parole Commission in 36 years. Most recently, Carmen attended the GOP Convention in Minnesota. As a McCain Delegate, she served on the 2008 Platform Committee, helping to devise the foundation and principles of the Republican Party. She also wrote a blog for the Baltimore Sun where she chronicled her experience. Carmen has been an ardent supporter of Senator John S. McCain since 2000. At that time, she attended the Philadelphia convention as an at-large Alternate-Delegate.

In her role as a Parole Commissioner for the Maryland Parole Commission (MPC), Carmen Amedori’s responsibilities include oversight of all matter related to parole release. The MPC is the only judicial releasing authority in the State of Maryland, as this is a large task that requires not only drive and ambition, but also talent and skill. Ms. Amedori draws from her experiences as a state legislator in her decision-making. As a legislator representing the 5th Legislative District of Carroll County, Maryland, she served on the House Judiciary Committee for 6 years drafting legislation and voting on laws for the people of Maryland. She was well liked by her constituents, having been elected to the position twice, serving a total of 6 years. She made many notable achievements during her time in office, receiving many awards from civic groups.

Carmen Amedori studied at Villa Julie College in Stevensville, Maryland, where she obtained her degree. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, writing, and photography. She stays active by swimming, playing football, golfing, and bicycling with her family.
