Biography

Many authors find success by writing about their life experiences, but few books have made the impact that “French Women Don’t Get Fat: The Secret of Eating for Pleasure,” written by acclaimed author Mireille Guiliano has had. Mireille Guiliano, who is now writing a book about women in business, aims to prove that women can maintain a healthy, balanced diet despite eating pastries, bread and chocolate.

When Mireille Guiliano, who was born and raised in France, headed to the United States to study as an exchange student, she gained quite a bit of weight. In picking up local Boston-area eating habits, Mireille had traded her normally slender figure for a larger one. Guiliano returned home to France with more than just souvenirs. Mireille Guiliano was in shock. With the advice of a doctor, Mireille was slowly integrated back into French eating habits.

Mireille Guiliano eventually reclaimed her slim body and gained a new perspective on life, fitness and the pleasures of eating. With a book full of recipes, tips and anecdotes, Guiliano has shared what she has learned with millions of readers all over the world. Because of the success of “French Women Don’t Get Fat,” Guiliano penned another book, “French Women for all Seasons: A Year of Secrets, Recipes and Pleasure,” which continues on the smart and funny path of its predecessor. The original work has over 40 editions and was a resounding international hit. The book was a best seller in many countries from Ireland to England to Australia to many European countries and is also a hit in the Middle and Far East.

Before her venture into writing books, Mireille Guiliano spent upwards of 20 years in top executive positions in the wine industry; Guiliano is the founder of Clicquot, Inc. and was the spokesperson for Champagne Veuve Clicquot.

Mireille Guiliano travels back and forth between her home in Manhattan, New York and her other home in Provence, France. Mireille Guiliano loves cooking, writing, reading, swimming and spending time with her husband Edward, who is president and CEO of the New York Institute of Technology.
