Philadelphia area psychotherapist Dr. George Bernato has been a respected and accredited member of the mental health community for over 25 years. His practice, Eranos Counseling, specializes in therapy for adults, couples, families and groups, with expertise in helping those who have struggled to manage mental illness or distress unsuccessfully. A veteran of the United States Military, Dr. Bernato also has a special understanding of post-traumatic stress disorder. His unique Jungian approach to treatment combines the traditional style of talk therapy with modern Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, and Sandplay.

Dr. George Bernato holds a Master of Education Degree in Counseling as well as a PhD in Counseling Psychology. Since beginning his practice in 1981, Dr. Bernato has continued to pursue further education and expertise in his field. He received advanced training from the Albert Ellis Institute, the C.G. Jung Institutes of Minneapolis and Philadelphia, and the Philadelphia School of Psychoanalysis. He is currently a participating member of the American Psychological Association, the American Counseling Association, the National Association for Advancement of Psychoanalysis, the American Psychotherapy Association, and the Pennsylvania Counseling Association. Dr. George Bernato is also a member of the National Distinguished Service Registry, and was certified by the National Board for Certified Counselors in 1984. He is an American Psychotherapy Association Board Certified Professional Counselor.

George Bernato is a devoted Philadelphia resident who finds joy in giving back to his local community. His philanthropic endeavors include the prestigious and world-renowned Curtis Institute of Music, a private conservatory admitting students on full scholarship on artistic potential and promise alone. Dr. Bernato has also dedicated his resources and expertise in counseling to the members of his neighborhood Catholic Church support group.
