Lorenzo Martinelli was born in Italy in 1958, trained as an electrical engineer but soon took an interest to languages and communications as he worked for an international charity, travelling extensively in Latin America and Europe.
He has been involved in translation, localization, internationalization and publication for international audiences for over 25 years. During the course of his career, he has translated several million words of text, has managed translation departments to high standards, has been a partner of an important Italian translation company for several years, and has recently been involved with the lexicographical update and revision of an acclaimed Italian/English Dictionary.
He now lives most of the year in a rural corner of the United Kingdom and is working as an independent free-lance professional translator for a number of international, quality-conscious clients, ranging for large corporations to individuals.
He also provides Italian language tuition, and is a much sought-after speaker on language, social and ethical issues.
He has been Professional Member of the Irish Translators Association (ITIA-FIT) for many years.
Deeply aware of environmental and ethical issues, when he’s not translating, or teaching Italian, Lorenzo is actively involved in the local community.
He is married with Viv, an award-winning 3D and Photography artist, and has five children.
