Biography
I am currently employed by University of Michigan Exhibit Museum of Natural History as an Exhibit Preparator. I am involved in all stages of exhibit design and fabrication, from conceptualization and developing text to fabricating models and constructing skeletal mounts. Recently, most of my time has been spent designing and producing computer interactives for the museum. The single largest project that I have devoted my time and energy to was the addition of a new mastodon to the museums "Hall of Evolution." I was fortunate enough to be involved in everything from molding and casting the original bones, to painting and assembling the final mount.
I graduated from the University of Michigan in 2002 with a bachelor's degree in Anthropology and aim to further my education through a graduate program (yet to be decided).
I was born, raised, and currently live in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I am married and have a one year old son, Nathaniel. There is no end to my list of hobbies and I seem to develop new ones daily. While I retain to some degree the pasttimes of my childhood, such as drawing and model making, I have been spending an increasing amount of time with my more athletic hobbies, such as playing hockey, soccer, and baseball. I have always loved to participate in sporting activities, but have spent very little of my life as what I would call a sports fan or enthusiast. I also spend a significant amount of time with practical hobbies such as working on maintaining my car and working on improving my house. On top of all that I seem to find large amounts of time to devote to fruitless purtsuits, like earning a private pilot certificate that I will probably never have the money or time to use and an emergency medical technician license that will likely never lead anywhere. But I do sometimes wonder how others can live without this knowledge and these skills. I also love to travel, whether I'm hiking with my wife on a tiny and secluded Polynesian island, touring archaeological sites in Syria or camping in the Australian outback. One of my life goals is to learn to sail, build or purchase a boat and sail around the Pacific Ocean. All of these things, of course, are secondary to spending time with my family and devoting all necessary effort to mastering my daily tasks.
