Interview

An Interview with Julia Bradley
Interview conducted on Thursday, March 29, 2007

What is your favorite book and why?
Julia: Elizabeth Gilbert's "Eat, Love, Pray" is my most recent favorite. I enjoyed her ability to deliver an autobiographical story that starts out with an earthquake of despair and finishes with the feeling of complete peace like a cool summer lake on a hot humid day. I thoroughly enjoyed her self-deprecating humor, self-discovery, self-realization and utlimate arrival at a new sense of wholeness.

What is your favorite hobby or past time?
Julia: I love outdoor markets....wandering through a weekly market in a quaint village in the South of France presents a buffet of sumptuous sights and scents not found in the US. The fresh produce, fresh herbs, savory cheese and endless aisles of intriguing antiquities fills me with excitement. That element of fresh discovery for beautifully crafted or well-designed items that have lived former lives from long ago keeps me coming back for more.

Can you name one accomplishment in your life most people might not know about?
Julia: One of my earlier accomplishments continues to be one of my favorite life experiences. Upon graduating from college, I immediately took a flight to Europe with friends and spent a summer traveling by train, ferry and foot from the southern islands of Greece, across Western Europe, and as far North as Bergen, Norway. The amazing people we met along the way combined with the sights and sensory overload made this a priceless experience for me.

What is your favorite quote and what does it mean to you?
Julia: "If you think you can or if you think you can't, either way, you are right." I love this quote from Henry Ford. It should be inscribed on the walls of every school in America. It's the one thing every person should learn and practice as early in life as possible.
