In high school, what was your favorite subject and why?
Derek: My favorite subject was History. I think History is extremely important because it shapes what our country(and world) as a whole has become and will become and on an individual level, your personal "History" shapes the person you become. You have to know where you came from to understand where you are. The events that occured years ago still have a profound effect on the way people lead their lives and histoy also teaches us what mistakes caused failure and misteps along the way so we don't make them again.

If you could see into the future or travel backward in time, which would you choose? Why?
Derek: I would travel back in time to the Pre Revolution and Revolution era. The men and women leading the path to independence were some of the brighest and most forward thinking individuals in our history. To sit in on the Continental Congress and other committee meetings would have been amazing. They were the original "Start-Up Company".
