Name a couple of organizations that you belong to
Carma: I've been a member of the National Association of Science Writers since 1995 and the National Association of Women Writers since 2004. In the past, I've also been a member of Toastmasters, The Planetary Society, PRSA, World Wildlife Fund, and others. I chose these organizations because I'm passionate about writing and editing, as well as planetary exploration and the conservation and preservation of Earth's natural resources and wildlife.

Who or what do you aspire to and why?
Carma: I would love to be a philanthropist, to be able to fund research and activities that help preserve wildlife and science education.

What is your favorite quote and what does it mean to you?
Carma: Whenever I am feeling indecisive, I reflect on what Zig Ziglar once said, "Does this activity move me closer to or further from my goal?" I find this quote rather grounding. It puts things into a goal-oriented perspective that is oftentimes helpful.

What is your favorite color and what do you think it reflects in your personality?
Carma: My favorite color is Lapis blue. How does it reflect my personality? Well, I've heard that indivduals who favor blue tend to be intelligent. ;-) If pressed, I guess I'd say that blue is both a transparent and obscure color. In many ways, I'm quite transparent, open and honest. But then, I'm also full of surprises -- to others, as well as to myself.

What is your favorite hobby or past time?
Carma: I love doing things that are creative or expand my mind. To this end, I enjoy creating new recipes and testing them out until perfected. I also enjoy reading a variety of speculative fiction genres, as well as science, paleontology and astronomy being my favorites. In addition, I write a lot -- I maintain four blogs and have several short stories, novels and poems in my files.
