Fly Fishing in Massachusetts
Posted On:

An avid fly fisher, I am always happy to introduce newcomers to the joys of the sport. Fly fishing uses artificial flies as bait, casting the baited hook into the water with a fly rod and line. The crucial distinction between fly fishing and spin or bait fishing is this: the fly line is coated in plastic and made heavy enough to propel the bait through the air, rather than being propelled by the weight of the lure. Today, there is a wide range of types of artificial flies fishermen can acquire to suit the particular area in which they are fishing. It is imperative that fishermen use artificial flies that match the local insects in order to attract fish. A resident of Boston Massachusetts, I enjoy exploring the various ponds, creeks, and lakes throughout the Northeast region. Fishing gives me the opportunity to connect with my environment in a respectful and gratifying way.
