Biography
Rudy Jurgensen Publicizes Midpeninsula Matters Rudy Jurgensen at the end of 2003 joined the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District, based in Los Altos, Calif., to serve as public affairs manager. As manager, Rudy Jurgensen helps publicize information about the special-purpose district which manages more than 57,000 acres of natural open space lands in the San Francisco Bay Area. Rudy Jurgensen also helps to implement the top priorities of the district’s legislative plan and protect the district’s funding structure.
Rudy Jurgensen, together with the department’s seven members, coordinates the activities of about 500 volunteer workers. Rudy Jurgensen’s annual departmental budget tallies about $1 million. Rudy Jurgensen also works on projects including community programs that enhance visitor experiences while providing opportunities for education and involving people in the preservation, restoration and enjoyment of open space.
Rudy Jurgensen recently spoke publicly on the district’s acquisition of Mindego Ranch in 2008, a coastal property with a price tag of $22.5 million, which the district planned to buy with the help of a grant.
Rudy Jurgensen’s Public Relations Firm Experience From 1996 to 2003, Rudy Jurgensen served as Director of Client Services in the San Francisco office of national public relations firm Kearns & West. Rudy Jurgensen’s clients included the U.S. Forest Service, a competitive local telecommunications company, the Edison Electric Institute and Mendocino Redwood Co. Rudy Jurgensen created media relations and stakeholder involvement campaigns for the firm’s clients.
From 1992 to 1996, Rudy Jurgensen worked with public relations firm Industrie-Contact, Hamburg, Germany. There, Rudy Jurgensen managed media relations, drafted outreach materials and organized conferences. Rudy Jurgensen also managed lobbying campaigns on the federal and Europe-wide level.
An earlier position held by Rudy Jurgensen included serving as Executive Assistant to Juergen Klimke, the company’s CEO and former member of the Hamburg state legislature who is now a member of the federal legislature. Rudy Jurgensen researched legislation and issues, drafted legislation, wrote speeches and organized meetings with constituents.
Rudy Jurgensen’s Education Rudy Jurgensen completed an M.A. degree in political science at New York University in 1991. For his undergraduate work, Rudy Jurgensen earned a B.A. in political science from the University of California-Berkeley in 1989.
